LiverPool Keith Herring show

I went to Liverpool to view the works of Keith Herring

I thought he was stuff was very simple at a first glance , but learning of the context of it soon gave me a deeper understanding of the symbolism used in his pieces and the simplicity of his works only made the meaning of the pieces more clearer and more in depth.

He was a very huge supporter of minorities , being gay himself and had done many works about aids before dying from the condition. While from an outsiders perspective his drawings of nudity could be seen as immature and crude, usually penises due to the obvious fact of his attraction , when in fact there were explorations of the politic climate he grew up with and the censorship issues he often faced for simply existing as himself, such as the use of the pink triangle, which was a symbol used to encourage violence against the LGBT community.

Mickey mouse and cartoony imagery are found within his works , along with TVs, as a reflection of the advancing technology he was surrendered by in his life. Ironically a lot of it could be applied to the rapid growth of iPhones and social media off now.

I bought one of his books which I thought were insightful, the quote ''Everything happens for a reason . And I'm sure everything happens are the right time and at the right place'' in partially connected to me as it's something I personally I believe in myself.
